Abstract
<h3>To the Editor:—</h3> The treatment of plague during recent years has been fairly satisfactory. In general, a combination of streptomycin and a sulfonamide is used and in South Vietnam, where the disease is seen in increasing numbers, this treatment has been recommended by the Ministry of Health during the past five years. It is extremely important that the treatment be started in the very early stages of the disease in order to combat the initial bacteremia and associated toxemia. At the provincial hospital in Nha Trang, South Vietnam, patients with plague began to be admitted to the ward for infectious diseases in October 1967 in increasing numbers and increasing severity. The clinical diagnosis in many cases was confirmed by the demonstration of<i>Pasteurella pestis</i>in material obtained by aspiration from enlarged lymph glands.
