Abstract

A modified test fixture using parallel strips line for measuring the attenuation of the dielectric rod is introduced. The hyperbolical tapered lines on the top and bottom of the substrate to realize an approximate impedance matching. In the center of the parallel strips, there is an arc tapered line to reduce the mismatching from the sample hole. The dielectric rod is inserted into a sample hole with 1.2mm in diameter and passed through the substrate to test along the rod. The test fixture exhibits a desired insertion loss of less than 3dB and return loss of more than 10dB (about 23dB maximum) over whole frequencies.
