Abstract
The fading characteristic of satellite channel directly affects the performance of communication system. Therefore, satellite channel modeling is very important for the design of satellite communication system. The traditional satellite channel model generally assumes that the angle of arrival (AOA) of incident wave obeys uniform distribution on [0, 2π]. However, this assumption is only applicable to the terrestrial channel with significant multipath effect, but does not conform to the satellite channel with open receiving environment, which leads to the low precision of the model. In this paper, a modified sum of sinusoidal (SOS) algorithm with Laplacian AOA is proposed to simulate the S-band satellite channel model. Finally, the accuracy of the model is verified by the actual channel measurement. The results show that the proposed simulation model is highly consistent with the probability density function (PDF) and autocorrelation function (ACF) of the envelope measured.
