Abstract

A reaction-solution rotating-bomb calorimeter with air thermostat has been built and tested by measuring the enthalpy of ionization of water at three temperatures. The results are ΔH f o = (55.72 ± 0.30) kJ mol −1 at 298.15 K, (41.74 ± 0.60) kJ mol −1 at 373.65 K, and (33.46 ± 0.50) kJ mol −1 at 415 K, in good accordance with earlier measurements.
