Abstract
The problem of evolution of a single vapor bubble after an increase in the pressure of the surrounding fluid is considered. In contrast to the classical formulation of this problem, the fluid pressure is set at a finite distance from the bubble. For the case when this distance is large, an analytical solution is found, which relates the bubble compression rate with its current radius. On the basis of the solution obtained, the regimes of bubble compression and fluid pressure upon bubble compression in the collapse regime are investigated.
