Abstract

This paper presents a modified analytical method for the determination of the occupancy distribution and point-to-group blocking probability in multiservice switching networks with implemented admission control mechanisms and multiservice sources. On the basis of the same unified mode, the proposed method allows the blocking probability in switching networks with different call admission control mechanisms (e.g. reservation mechanism and threshold mechanism) to be calculated. This method is not only universal but also makes it possible to obtain results with higher accuracy than those obtained on the basis of the methods previously described in literature. In addition, the paper also provides a comparison between the results for the point-to-group blocking probability obtained using the presented method and those obtained by other methods previously described in literature.
