Abstract

Methenamine silver, used to detect glycoprotein or mucopolysaccharide, has been applied in this study to Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) aortas fixed for transmission electron microscopy. Stainless steel or titanium grids proved to be satisfactory for handling sections.In the procedure outlined in this paper, silver precipitation was prevented by leaving the staining vessels uncovered.
