Abstract

L 1 adaptive control is a new control methodology developed in recent years. This paper introduces the discrete integral of the uncertainty to the standard piecewise constant adaptive law of the L 1 adaptive output feedback control. The modified adaptive law can guarantee better transient and steady target tracking performance compared with the standard adaptive law. A global nonlinear optimization process is carried out to obtain the sub-optimal filter design for the L 1 adaptive output feedback controller to maximize the performance index. With these design technique, an augmented L 1 adaptive control structure is applied to the temperature control of a wind tunnel. The simulation results and analysis demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control architecture.
