Abstract

Time Domain equalization is important in combating ISIACI in discrete multi-tone (DMT) systems with cyclic prefix (CP) shorter than the channel memory. A channel shortening equalizer iS a time domain equalizer (TEQ) placed at the receiver hnt-end that produces m effective channelequalizer impulse response which length is at least equal to the CP length plus one. We review the MMSE TEQ design method and discuss its drawback. Tben the Eigen approach design method is discussed and a modified version of the Eigen approach is proposed with the aim to achieve higher bit rates with the usc of our design.
