Abstract

Although special intubating airwaydevices are designed to solve these issues, they are difficultto insert in awake patients with a severely limited mouthopening. In burn patients, head and neck movements arealso limited by scar contractures, and these airway devicescan occasionally make fibroscopy difficult because theirdistal opening may move from the glottis or even face theposterior pharyngeal wall.
