Abstract

A modification of the Martin (1979) equation of state suitable for vapour-liquid equilibrium calculations is presented. The temperature dependence of this modification is determined from the second virial coefficient correlation of Tsonopoulos (1974) and the pure-component vapour pressures. Excellent predictions of phase equilibria have been obtained for a number of binary systems, including a system containing hydrogen. For the systems tested, the equation of this study is more accurate than the Peng-Robinson (1976) equation of state.
