Abstract

Recent advances in lattice and continuum QCD have given us new insights into quarkonium physics. These sets of lectures are intend for the uninitiated. We first give a physical picture of quarkonium and describe the hybrids states established in lattice QCD. Then we give an unorthodox presentation of Nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) including a novel method for the application of spin-symmetries. Finally we describe the prototypical application of NRQCD: cancellation of infrared divergences in decays of P wave quarkonia.
