Abstract

The aim of this paper is to compare visco-plastic behavior of lead and a lead alloy over a wide range of temperature and strain rate. Compression test data have been obtained on stress variation with strain. Quasi-static compression tests were carried out on a MTS facility, while dynamic test results were obtained using a Hopkinson compression bar. The test data are used to find suitable values for material parameters related to so called Saturation Model: a constitutive relation based on a Voce law. Physical considerations are taking into account, in particular the proportionality between the flow stress and the shear modulus. The model parameters are fitted using a simplex method. Results are also compared with the well-known Zerilli-Armstrong relation established for faced centered cubic metals.
