A model transformation in MDA from CIM to PIM represented by web models through SoaML and IFML

Abstract

The models transformation is the number one key in MDA. There are two transformations kinds In MDA which are CIM to PIM transformation and PIM to PSM transformation. The most researchers based on PIM to PSM transformation, since there are multiple points in common between these two levels. However, Transforming models in CIM level to models in PIM level is rarely dealt in research subjects because they are two different levels. This paper proposes a model transformation approach to control transformation from CIM to web-based PIM in accordance with the MDA. Our methodology is based on structuring a good CIM level via well-selected rules, allowing us to win precious models that facilitate the transformation from CIM to PIM. Then, we select a set of well-defined rules to move from CIM to PIM so as to ensure a semi-automatic transformation. Next, we oriented PIM level to web view, through SoaML and IFML, for facilitating eventually transformation to the PSM models. Our method conforms to MDA recommendations by considering the business dimension in the CIM level, and by modeling this latter level using activity diagram which is the OMG standard for modeling business process. Nevertheless, we used UML models into the PIM level, because UML is recommended by MDA in this level. However SoaML and IFML are the OMG standard, which are used in this work to represent web models.
