Abstract

Landau's Fermi liquid parameters, and physical quantities related to these, are calculated in nuclear matter by a model space approach. We account for the interaction induced by the polarization of the medium around a quasiparticle by applying the technique of Babu and Brown. The main result of our calculation is that the introduction of a model space does not appreciably change the quasiparticle effective mass. For the effective mass m ∗ , the symmetry energy β and the compression modulus K we find values of 0.74 m, 38.4 MeV and 208 MeV, respectively.
