Abstract
The model of ring current is founded on the Dessler-Parker-Sckopke theorem and data of the AMPTE (Active Magnetospheric Particle Tracer Explorers) and ‘Intercosmos-17’ satellites. The model of ring current connects the altitude of the maximum of ring current and D st-variation during the main phase of a magnetic storm. It predicts the radial distribution of the ring current energetic density, and the decay of the ring current energy in the recovery phase. The model can be used for the analysis of the adiabatic and nonadiabatic particle motion and the injection depth of energetic particles in the main phase.
