Abstract

Three kinds of weak vector boson octet are assumed to exist. It is shown that certain modifications of the Michel theory for weak interactions, based on the new postulates for such weak boson octets, not only lead to the same results as the Cabibbo theory of the leptonic decays of hadrons, but also produce reasonable predictions for the non-leptonic decays of pseudoscalar mesons which satisfy the .dl=l/2 rule with small violations. In particular, with specific parameter fits, the model can give GP(,9-decay)/Gtt(p-decay) =0.980 and the same prediction as that of Cronin for Kt4 decay. Further, for the slopes of the K ~3tr decays and violations of the .dl = 1/2 rule in K-meson weak decays, it gives predic tions with a very good fit to experiment. In the model, we can make a reasonable descrip· tion of the meson weak decays in a unified manner.
