Abstract
This chapter discusses a model for signal generation in silicon target camera tubes. The operation of a camera tube cannot be described simply as the convolution of the input charge image and the readout electron beam because of the charge replacement function of the beam. The model was implemented using a FORTRAN program on the same computer that services the camera tube laboratory. For reasons of efficiency, the function f (V T ) was approximated using the ERF function. The model was used to calculate the point spread functions that would be generated by a camera tube in response to point source inputs of varying amplitudes placed on one of the diodes. Despite its simplicity, the model described in the chapter has been found to be one that is accurate in predicting tube outputs for a wide range of input and scan conditions.
