Abstract

A separator coupling cyclone with built-in granular bed filter was proposed for gas purification. By analyzing available data in published literature and experimental results, a new model for predicting the separation performance of the coupled separator was obtained by regressing against a broad range of parameter governing the dusts collection in the coupled separator. In particular, the mutual influences between the cyclone shell and the built-in granular bed filter on the separation process were denoted by introducing a new dimensionless structural parameter. Different from other coupled models, the proposed model can be adopted to describe the total collection efficiency and the fractional efficiency of the cyclone/ granular bed filter coupled separator.
