Abstract
The mixing of excited ionic Stark states created after electron capture by slow, bare ions incident on hydrogen, is investigated by applying the exactly solvable model which assumes the dipole interaction between the ion and the proton. The case when one ionic n-shell is predominantly populated is treated in more detail by assuming the distant pseudocrossing of potential energy curves to be responsible for electron capture. Cross section calculations have been performed for C6+ + H(1s) → C5+(4l) + H+ process and compared with other theoretical predictions.
