Abstract
A model for estimating the OH absorption peak in optical fibers given the attenuation values at 1.3, 1.4, and 1.55 μm has been developed. The model has been tested against the experimental data of a monomode fiber, and found to be within 5% of the experimental data. An attempt has been made to identify the cause of the deviation between the experimental and mathematical model. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 18: 310–312, 1998.
