Abstract

This paper describes the application of a new model designed to calculate technical losses in low voltage lines. The model determined that 91.8% of these technical losses are concentrated in secondary circuits and only 8.2% are located in electrical service connections. The paper includes the statistical technique, the stratification process, the methodology and the model proposed for the calculation of the technical losses indicator in low voltage lines. It also contains a computational tool that allows for calculation simulation, including a monthly estimate of the indicator. A previous study of technical losses in low voltage lines had analyzed a sample of 832 of EDC's 23,684 transformer bank. By fine-tuning the stratification process, the sample was reduced to 498 points, thus ensuring a lower margin of error and the same level of confidence as the previous study
