Abstract

This paper discusses how data from an array of tactile sensors may be used to identify and locate one object from among a set of known objects. First we will introduce the data acquisition system and the human interface. Then potentially useful attributes of objects which are reliable for tactile sensing, are described. Finally we present a discussion of object classification technologies based on the principle of multiple expert systems cooperating via a blackboard.
