Abstract A model in radiative equilibrium has been computed for log g = 40, T~ = 168000 K (Oe = 0 300) taking into account the detailed blanketing of the strongest lines in the ultraviolet (911 6 «= X «= 1600 A), where the majority of the flux emerges It was found that the visible spectrum closely resembles that of an unblanketed model with log g = 4.0, T~ = 176800 K (O~ = 0.285). Both models were classified as B4 V on the basis of the Balmer discontinuity. Thus at this spectral type the effective temperature as- signed using an unblanketed model was too high by 885° K. The bolometric correction was estimated to be -1.34 for the blanketed model compared with -1.56 for the unbianketed one. Details of the model are given in tabular form and the emergent flux distribution is shown graphically. The model was com- pared with~ste1Iar observations at 1115, 1314, 1376, and 1427 A. Reasonable agreement was found at 1314 and 1376 A, but the observed fluxes are significantly less than the predictions at 1115 and 1427 A Publication: The Astrophysical Journal Pub Date: April 1968 DOI: 10.1086/149536 Bibcode: 1968ApJ...152..195A full text sources ADS | data products SIMBAD (9)
