Abstract

In long term evolution (LTE) network, the inhomogeneity of traffic distribution results in local network congestion and waste of resource. Mobility load balancing (MLB) is introduced to solve the problem and improve the efficiency of resource utilization. But application of MLB and the mobility robustness optimization (MRO) of systems are bound to influence each other. A MLB algorithm based on handover optimization (HO) has been proposed in the paper to prevent ping-pong effect. The selection of cell-edge users for handover is been taken into the consideration in the algorithm and average throughput has an almost 20% improvement. A simulation has been executed in the last of the paper and the algorithm is proved feasible.
