Abstract

The power demanded by many present day electronic devices opens up the possibility to convert part of the energy present in the environment into electrical energy using several methods. Sustaining a continuous power source for autonomous wireless and portable electronic devices is an important issue. Ambient power sources, such as a replacement for batteries, can minimize the maintenance and the cost of operation by harvesting different forms of energy from the potential energy sources. The objective ofthis paper is to harness the energy of human motion and convert it into a mobile electrical power source, which can be used to charge electronic devices. The designed circuit utilizes the heat and pressure experienced by the sole of a shoe of the person during walking and converts it into electric power, which is stored in a battery and can be used to charge electronic devices. This creates a mobile power source that can charge electronic gadgets anywhere and anytime. The circuit utilizes piezoelectric generators for generating power from the pressure and flexing experienced by the soles. Simultaneously, the thermoelectric generators convert some of the heat generated while walking into electricity.
