Abstract

Non-linear electric properties of atoms and molecules can be determined by computing the second-order polarizabilities from the analytic perturbation equations, numerically modified by the presence of an additional finite field. The scheme is applied in a test calculation of the He atom hyperpolarizabilities, γ( 0;0,0,0) and γ(-ω;ω,0, 0).
