Abstract
Under the requirement that the total field and matter energy-momentum tensor be symmetric, Minkowski's tensor together with Eckart's nonsymmetry tensor is equal to the sum of Eckart's symmetric tensor with Abraham's tensor. Both sums therefore lead to the same dynamical equations.
