Abstract
The new minimal model of C-peptide secretion recently proposed to assess β-cell function from IVGTt C-peptide and glucose data is here applied, in conjunction with a model of insulin kinetics. to insulin and glucose data from insulin modified IVGTI in 5 normal subjects. Reliable estimates of insulin kinetic parameters and sensitivity to glucose of basal. 1st and 2nd phase post hepatic insulin secretion can be obtained in each individual. The analysis of both C-peptide and insulin plasma data in the same subjects provides quantitative information on the process of hepatic insulin extraction.
