Abstract

In this paper, a miniaturized dual stop-band filter with meander defected microstrip structure is proposed for wireless communication applications. The performance of the proposed filter is investigated numerically in detail. In this design, the dual stop-band filter is realized by using meander defected microstrip structures, which are spiral slots that are embedded into a 50 Q microstrip line to obtain dual stop-bands. The dimensions of the proposed dual stop-band filter are optimized to a small size of 32×5×0.8 mm3. Both circuit and HFSS simulation results are provided to prove that the designed dual stop-band filter has good dual stop band characteristics operating at 3.52 GHz and 5.3 GHz to reject the undesired signals. Thus the proposed filter is suitable for incorporating into UWB systems to efficiently reduce the potential interferences from unexpected narrowband signals such as WiMAX and WLAN communication systems.
