Abstract
This paper proposes a topology to develop a miniature, wideband, well-matched, non-dispersive phase shifter with low insertion loss on the basis of composite right/left handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) unit cells. To demonstrate the proposed approach, a lumped element design was prototyped. The lumped element design operates at a center frequency of 2.4 GHz with 50% bandwidth. Experimental results of the lumped element design demonstrate return loss ≥ 10 dB, insertion loss ≤ 0.5 dB, with a phase shift of 45 +/− 1.5 degrees over the entire bandwidth.
