Abstract

A new dehydrazination reaction of arylhydrazines using nitric oxide and oxygen as a mild nitrosating agent is described. Taking advantage of non-aqueous and non-acidic medium appears to cause this novel selectivity as a counterpart of the azide synthesis by the conventional methods. The generality and reaction mechanism were also investigated.
