Abstract

A new balanced mixer for double-sideband suppressed-carrier applications based on an electro-optic modulator is presented. Thanks to the use of an automatic bias control circuit for minimum transmission point, a carrier suppression of 45 dB and a reduced output noise are achieved. The electrode configuration of the modulator allows an isolation between ports above 50 dB. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 18: 58–63, 1998.
