Abstract

A microscopical model of the anharmonic lattice dynamics for La 2−xM xCuO 4 is proposed to describe the soft tilting mode and its interaction with strains. The model free energy and eigenfrequency expressions were obtained to consider the structural phase transitions: D 17 4h→D 16 2h→D 16 4h. It is shown that the consideration of the x-dependence of the anharmonic constants is important for determining the sequence of phase transitions.
