Abstract

Using the static fluctuation approximation, finite two-dimensional Bose gas systems, trapped in a harmonic potential, are investigated. The interparticle potential is taken as a δ-function. The chemical potential, condensate fraction, total energy, and heat capacity are calculated as functions of the temperature for different values of the interaction strength and of the number of particles. Our results show that interacting bosons trapped in a harmonic potential have a similar behavior to that of the ideal system. These results conform with those obtained using different many-body theories, such as the semi-classical two-fluid model and the Hartree–Fock approximation.
