Abstract

A novel configuration for a Ka-band V-shaped microstrip meander-line slow-wave structure (SWS) is reported. All the components of the proposed configuration can be realized using standard microfabrication processes. CPW input/output feed-lines, which can be fabricated together with the SWS, are incorporated in order to permit on-wafer measurement of cold-test parameters. Simulated dispersion characteristics and coupling impedance for a wideband design are presented. The results show that the S11 of the entire structure is better than −20 dB over a 25% bandwidth centered at 30 GHz. The steps for microfabrication of the SWS are also described briefly.
