Abstract
In the present work, an effort has been made to validate Gurson yield criteria at the macro level with an equivalent numerical model at the micro level. The continuum body at macroscale has been assumed as periodically arranged stackable unit cells each containing a single void at microscale. A hexagonal cylinder containing a spherical void is considered as the shape of the unit cell; for simplicity, the hexagonal cylinder is modeled as a circular cylinder which allows simpler axisymmetric loading. Furthermore, due to symmetry, only a quarter of the geometry is required to model. A good comparison between both models is obtained for the different void radii.
