Abstract

Today enterprises are facing rapid and radical changes in business environments, making business agility a crucial step toward gaining competitive advantages over rivals. Service-oriented architectures (SOA) are touted as the key to business agility. However to deliver business agility with SOA effectively, business services should be designed according to SOA principles that affect business agility, including autonomy, cohesion and structural complexity. In this paper we propose a set of metrics to measure service accordance with these principles. A controlled case study is also provided to validate the applicability and correctness of the proposed metrics.
