Abstract

AbstractThe migration of multiple legacy systems to a single system having an open architecture is increasingly required as the Government modernizes existing capabilities. This paper presents a methodology, based upon open system standards and commercial off the shelf (COTS) products, for performing such migrations. The methodology addresses requirements, legacy system engineering analyses, architecture synthesis, component selection, migration plan development, cost, schedule, and migration plan implementation. The approach is presented in the context of the Theater Battle Management Core System project.
