Abstract
A method to estimate the volume fraction of precipitates with ellipsoidal morphology from elastic modulus data is developed based on the “strength of material” type of approximate solution for the Young's modulus of the two-phase material. Exprimental verification of the method is accomplished using Young's modulus data collected on solution-treated and aged Beta III titanium alloy.
