Abstract

Half wave voltage or Vπ voltage plays an important role for application of electro-optic modulator in data or signal processing. The depth of the modulation by an electro-optic modulator depends on its Vπ voltage. Several techniques of reducing the Vπ voltage of an electro-optic modulator have already been reported. Here in this paper the authors propose a new scheme for reducing the Vπ voltage of a modulation to a very small value by using a sharp cut and pointy crystal as electro-optic modulator.
