Abstract

A light modulator is described that can produce a considerable variety of continuous temporal changes in the intensity of a light stimulus to a fairly high degree of accuracy, without a temporal change in the spectral composition of the light. The device is suitable for modulating the intensity of a white light stimulus in the frequency range 0–60 Hz. Other modulators which produce temporal changes in the spectral composition of the stimulus are discussed briefly.
