Abstract

Renal and total inulin clearances were measured after a single injection and were compared with the endogenous creatinine clearance. The investigation was made on two dogs in which the ureters had been brought to the outside by Orbeli's method. Inulin clearance was measured in capillary blood by the antron micromethod. We concluded that a single intravenous injection of inulin may be used only for the measurement of renal inulin clearance. Total inulin clearance considerably exceeds the creatinine clear ance and there fore cannot be used to measure glomerular filtration.
