Abstract
A new method for the measurement of rotation vibration absorption lineshifts of polar molecules is described. With the help of a 'comparator gated system' the authors obtain the perturbed and they reference lines on the same record. In particular the have measured the small lineshifts of H35Cl( nu 1 from 0) perturbed by argon and xenon.
