Abstract

The axisymmetric vesicle shape problem, which involves minimization of the bending energy of a closed surface subject to area and volume constraints, is reformulated to allow numerical solution by means of a shooting method. To reproduce various solutions so obtained, a system of differential equations is given, together with a table of suitable initial values and sample results.
