Abstract

A method of calculating the bracket integrals containing a discontinuous two-sided Maxwellian distribution function is developed. This method makes it possible to obtain analytic solutions for different linearized systems of moment equations for all Knudsen numbers. The particular problem of heat transfer from a heated sphere is considered. New special functions associated with a specific moment system are introduced. For these functions a table of numerical values is given. Approximate analytic expressions for calculating the bracket integrals are also presented.
