Abstract

A method for single odor source declaration (OSD) based on mass flux criterion in three-dimensional (3D) airflow environments is proposed. Gas and wind sensor nodes are placed at the four vertices of a regular tetrahedron. To compute the total mass flux of each regular tetrahedron surface, the gas concentration and wind vector at every grid of four surfaces are estimated according to the sensors information detected at the four vertices. The gas concentration and wind vector are calculated using a Gaussian kernel function and in accordance with the distances to the vertices, respectively. The results of OSD experiment validate the proposed method.
