Abstract

Summary Different fluid types overlap on 2D NMR spectrum, which makes it difficult to quantitatively evaluate the fluid distribution on 2D NMR spectrum and accurately calculate saturation of each fluid. In this paper, a method of quantitative evaluation of formation fluid based on FastICA and nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is proposed. The number of fluid types in the mixing matrix is calculated according to FastICA, and then the distribution of different fluid types on 2D NMR spectrum and the corresponding saturation are obtained by NMF. The results of numerical simulation show that FastICA can accurately calculate the number of fluid types in the formation through the amount of residual message in the mixing matrix. According to the number of fluid types, the distribution of different fluid types on the 2D NMR spectrum can be well separated by NMF, the saturation of different fluid types at different depths can be calculated accurately, which provides an effective method for quantitative evaluation of 2D NMR spectrum.
