Abstract

SummaryIndomethacin, an indole derivative with a high degree of antiinflammatory activity, has shown a dramatic therapeutic effect in nine patients with classical gout and one with pseudogout. A large initial dose (300 or 400 mg.) was administered and followed by three or four additional doses of 100 mg. each. During the next two to four days 300 or 400 mg. in divided doses were given.Each patient had marked reduction of pain within two to four hours and all signs of inflammation subsided within three or four days. There were no significant side effects.
