Abstract

A procedure is described to study chemical heterogeneity of soil material within natural aggregates. Soil from aggregate surfaces is separated from interior material by a freezing and thawing process. Results for two soils indicate higher concentrations of water-soluble elements in the exterior soil material, whereas, the interior material contained about equal or slightly greater amounts of extractable elements than the exterior material.
